CVG BAUXILUM, C.A
It is the resulting enterprise during March 1994, of the fusion in March 1994, between BAUXIVEN (founded in 1979) and INTERALUMINA (founded in 1977). it is adjusted by the extraction and bauxite processing and alumina production areas.
The process is initiated with the explotation of the mineral deposits at Los Pijiguaos, Bolivar state, with a established capacity of six million metric tons per year.
In 1983, the operations were officially initiated sending the first gabbard with bauxite mineral through the Orinoco River from the Jobal port to the Matanzas pier.
The following objective is to transform the bauxite proceeding from Los Pijiguaos through the Bayer Process in metallurgical grade considering the established capacity of 2 millions metric tons per year.
In Matanzas the operations began April 26 th 1983 . with an initial settled capacity of 1.300.000 metric tons per year and in December 2002 was established the effective date for the modernization plan with the strategic association with Aluminium Pechiney for the increasing of the production capacity up to 2 million m/t per year.
Bauxite and Alumina erect the main raw material for obtaining the primary aluminium. the bauxite sales as well as the Alumina are basically oriented to feed the CVG ALCASA and CVG VENALUM's reduction plants, assigning a production percentage for the national market.
